A ‘cutting-edge’ partnership for Liebherr1

Liebherr and Reycom have joined forces with Qualcomm Technologies to develop and deploy LiRISE, an advanced edge artificial intelligence (AI) solution.
Built to withstand harsh environmental conditions, LiRISE (Liebherr Reycom Industrial Secure Edge) features Liebherr’s advanced edge AI gateways and the Reycom Industrial Secure Edge Platform to unlock the next level of autonomous and semi-autonomous operations.
Powered by Qualcomm’s Dragonwing processors, LiRISE is designed for a wide range of industrial IoT (Internet of Things) applications.
“In a world that is constantly evolving, it is crucial that your IoT solution is secure, up-to-date and future-ready,” Liebherr said.
“As a holistic IoT solution, LiRISE offers you everything you need, from powerful edge AI gateways and cloud connectivity to life-cycle security and maintenance. This allows you to fully focus on your core competencies and make use of the latest AI technology.”
The Qualcomm Dragonwing technology combines high-performance computing, optimised AI processing, and advanced connectivity to drive the new standard for efficiency and intelligence.
“The collaboration represents an exciting step toward more intelligent industrial machines,” Qualcomm Germany GmbH vice president, industrial and embedded IoT sales – Europe Eric Mazzoleni said.
“By integrating our Qualcomm Dragonwing QCS6490 and industrial-grade IQ9 series processors into Liebherr’s next-generation edge AI gateways, we are enabling high-performance computing and accelerated AI features that will support a variety of new AI-rich applications.
“We are proud to collaborate with these industry leaders as they unlock the full potential of edge AI for industrial appliances and software-defined machines.”
Reycom founder and chief executive officer Pascal Rey said with the demand for autonomous applications increasing, a close integration of hardware and software can meet the combination of functionality, performance, and security.
“Additionally, the stringent requirement to enhance resilience against cyber-attacks further increases the complexity of the overall system architecture,” Rey said.
Built with an intuitive, personalised user experience, LiRISE makes access to AI-driven applications easier than ever.
“By delivering security-rich, high-performance, and future-ready solutions, we help our customers navigate an increasingly complex world,” Liebherr head of control systems and connectivity Claus von Reibnitz said.
“Through collaborations with leading technology companies, we unite deep industry knowledge with cutting-edge innovation.”
The partnership was announced at Bauma 2025, an international trade show for heavy machinery that is currently being held at the Messe München exhibition centre in Munich, Germany from April 7–13.
Liebherr’s autonomous system ‘Liebherr Autonomous Operations’ won the Bauma 2025 innovation award in the digitalisation category.
