Amin Ebrahimi, CEO of Khuzestan Steel Company, stated on the sidelines of the METAFO exhibition: “These exhibitions provide an opportunity for various steel companies and domestic suppliers to identify their shared interests and find suitable solutions to address challenges.”
“METAFO is one of the exhibitions held annually. All steel and many knowledge-based companies participate in this event, leading to significant achievements,” he added.
“Thanks to such exhibitions, the steel industry has reduced its dependency on foreign sources from $150 per ton of production to $40 today. These outcomes result from interactions facilitated by such events, which provide an excellent platform for face-to-face negotiations in areas of governance, competition, collaborative industries, and suppliers,” Ebrahimi mentioed.
Referring to Khuzestan Steel’s need to establish a solar power plant, he said: “Today, one of the most critical challenges for Khuzestan Steel is the imbalance in energy carriers, particularly electricity. To address this, the company has planned to construct a 600-megawatt power plant across three locations, each with a 200-megawatt capacity. The land has been allocated, and the project is currently in the soil engineering phase. Additionally, a tender for solar cells is underway, and the winner will be announced in the coming days.”
Ebrahimi emphasized: “Despite existing challenges, including opposition in the region, Khuzestan Steel aims, with the cooperation of regional officials, to bring 50% of the electricity generated by the first phase of the solar power plant into operation by the end of this year, provided that other relevant organizations collaborate effectively.”
