MinRes takes on flagship Swift Access technology
Mining News Pro - Mineral Resources (MinRes) will be the first mining company to trial Swift Media’s new entertainment and communications product, Swift Access.
Offering casting capability with smart device setup, management and monitoring while also maintaining user privacy, Swift Access is considered a first in the Australian mining sector.
With Swift Access, Mineral Resources’ site-based staff will be able to cast a suite of streaming services from their mobile phone while also having access to Swift’s library of first-release content.
MinRes will trial Swift Access across 264 rooms at its Mt Marion lithium site in Western Australia.
If the technology proves successful, the rollout could be extended to all MinRes-owned operational villages as part of upgrades to existing sites.
MinRes chief executive of mining services Mike Grey hopes Swift Access will enhance on-site comfort particularly for his fly-in fly-out workers (FIFO).
“Wellbeing is a big focus for us, particularly for our FIFO workforce, and it’s important we provide state-of-the-art facilities and make the transition between home and site as seamless as possible,” Grey said.
“Access to a range of entertainment and media options is just one of the ways we’re making our sites a home away from home for our people. We’re excited to see what new and innovative entertainment and in-room experiences Swift Media can bring to our FIFO workers.”
It comes as MinRes plans to introduce new resort-style camps across its operations, offering swimming pools, wellness centres and restaurants, among other holiday-style amenities.
Swift currently delivers network infrastructure, entertainment and communications to 60,000 rooms nationally across environments such as mining and resources, residential aged care and hospitality.
The Swift Access product was first launched in early August.
