Mining News Agency -It is reported that the Brazilian steelmaker Gerdau registered a net profit of 451 million Brazilian reals in the first quarter of this year, before a loss of 34 million Brazilian reals in the same period last year.
Mining News -Gerdau produced around 4.17 million tons of crude steel in the first quarter, a growth around 4% over a year earlier. Sales advanced almost 8% to 3.87 million tons. In addition, part of Gerdau`s performance in the first quarter was also supported by the special steel sector, which had among the main customers from automotive industries.
Gerdau maintained its estimated investment of 1,200 million Brazilian reals for 2018, with focus on improving productivity and maintenance, after investment of 873 million Brazilian reals in 2017.
